Heroes Cinema Is This Sunday After Service in The Village

Dear Friends and Family,

I am so happy to introduce Hero Cinema. This is a monthly movie cinema based on the Heroes Journey by Joseph Campbell. It is shown inside the Youth and Family Village on the 2nd Sunday of the month after service at 12:30p.m.  We will feature Whale Rider PG-13.

WHALE RIDER
In a small New Zealand coastal village, the Maori face a great dilemma. In every generation, a male heir has always become the tribe's chief. So when her twin brother dies prematurely before he can inherit his post, Pai (Keisha Castle-Hughes) is left to fight the clan's aging patriarch and a thousand years of tradition to fulfill her destiny. Written and directed by Niki Caro, from the novel by Witi Ihimaera.

  1. I love the tenderness between Pai and her grandfather, and Pai's patience and perseverance in the face of what appears to be rejection. Her faith is apparent in the way she sings the old songs and trusts the process to unfold perfectly while expressing her true belief that we are all leaders.
